New shoes, swim lessons, musik lessons, misc

Mom would like to apologize for her ridiculous delays in posting to my blog. She is very sorry and has promised to be better in April. Therefore, you get a bunch of posts at once.

These items, however do not fit into a specific category- so she is now going to apologize for the word vomit display:
  • The biggest news for me is DAYCARE!!!! Yep, I've got a new place to hang out Mon-Thurs and a bunch of new friends to see. It's a lot of fun & Mom really likes everyone there. I do too- now when she's home with me I find her slightly boring, but I don't let on. Everyone else is just so exciting!!
  • I got new shoes! Well, new braces that I can wear at night. They are much more comfortable & I even sleep thru the night on occassion now. I don't know why I didn't have these before. They're so much better. Side note- James, my foot guy, told Gma Lehman that no one can get out of these shoes. HA- Dude, I've already broken free once, take that!
  • We started swim lessons again, well- Gma Lehman and I have started lessons. Mom is busy with school and work- so Gma is my pal this time around. And shockingly, I'm still quite the swimmer!
  • Musik lesson are going good! Mom got to take me last week for the first time and MAN- was she exhausted. The other mom's are really nice and we're thinking about a summer class too!
  • I was sick again for a bit this month. After the pnuemonia, I had about one good week- then got a nasty upper respiratory infection. They thought it was RSV (adult cold in kid) but nope- just a whole lotta snot. Always with the snot. We're very sick of snot in our house.
  • Still doing PT with Birth to Three. It's basically playing with supervision, but they clap a lot for me- so whatevs.

That's about it- Mom's going on vacation again in 8 days. Her and Gma L are heading to Mexico. I'm not too jealous, I get to spend a whole week with Dad!!!

100th time's the charm!

All winter Mom has tried to take me sledding. But I've either been too sick or it's been too cold or we've got a million things going on.
Well it finally happened folks. Last Saturday it snowed 1.5 inches in Madison & it was JUST enough to get some sledding it. It wasn't a huge fan of the snow (I mean, who is really?) But once we started sledding- it was ON! I think Mom was a little nervous, but we didn't hit any trees and it wiped me out for the rest of the day.

St Paddy's Day!

This year there was no parade :-( Mom was out of town and so were Mark & Amber. Kendall and I were pretty bummed. I also didn't get to do my pub crawl- but neither did Mom so we're even!
I did rock out a new t-shirt and here are some photos of me tearing up the kitchen. I do it daily!

On a sad note,

My family got a whole lot smaller this month when my Great-Grandpa Mcguire passed away on March 11th. I will miss him very much and am very thankful I got to spend almost a year and a half with him.

Gma Klett would tell Mom about how he hated to hear me cry, so when I'd start up, he'd be out the door! Only to return 30 minutes later :-) At the wake, a very nice man came up to Mom and told her that GG Mcguire would tell them all about me and his bright spots were when Gma would bring me to visit him. He was a great guy and I am going to miss him a lot.

Mom-cation

A very long weekend

You know, sometimes you just have to get away. Well Mom took a trip to visit a college friend in North Carolina. She got to see the ocean, have lots of good food & quality time with Heidi.
I got to hang out with Dad all weekend long!

VCFS clinic

A few weeks ago, Mom and I took a trip to the Amfam Children's Hospital in Madison. We were finally (!) going to the VCFS clinic our geneticist Dr Rice recommended awhile a go. This is for kids like me with 22q or kids with cleft lips. It's so we can see 6(!) specialists at once- Mom wishes that we can do all appointments like this. It's a 4 hour appointment and it worked out perfectly.

Arrived at 8am, we were first seen by Speech- of course, I felt this was the perfect time to be quiet and allow Mom and the Speech lady to chat. I don't think they were pleased by my silence, but I felt it was too early to chat. Hadn't had my coffee yet.

Then came Hearing- of course, I tested perfect in Hearing. I always do, ever since I was first born, I've been an excellent hear-er (?) however, now Mom is very sure that it's a selective hearing problem I have. I find it fun to see if she makes it to Chase Michael Lehman before I turn around.

Then I got to take a nap. Which was perfect bc it was my naptime, so Mom and the Social Worker got to have a nice chat. Despite the fact she had told my story numerous times before (I never get tired of hearing it) she got to go thru it again 6 times that day! The SW was very impressed with Mom- said something about deserving a cape. I think that's silly, she's just Mom dude. Speaking of Dude- you like my shirt???

After my nap, I met with the Plastic Surgeon. She was AWESOME!! The main reason we went to this clinic is because it is very common for kids with 22q to have submusosal cleft palletes. When I was 3 months old we went to the Ear Nose & Throat guy at Dean and he took a peek and said I was "ok." Good thing we got a second opinion bc the PS tipped me upside down and said "Yep, there it is!" This is important because something it has to be corrected by surgery. At this point we don't need surgery bc it hasn't affected my eating or breathing. Next is my talking, so we're going to start Speech therapy now to stop any bad habits from forming.

Then was the ENT (ears nose throat) guy, he was pretty funny, his student was pretty cute but she had no personality you guys. Anyways, same thing with him. Flipped me over, took a peek and yep, there it is.

And finally with the Speech dr- before I saw the student. She said the same thing. So now I'm doing speech therapy. But really it's blowing bubbles :) I don't complain.

It was a successful visit and we're happy we waded thru all the referral crap to get there.
