So this past week Chase has been sick with a cold. Not a huge deal, but it's his first cold ever & not bad for a 7 month old.
Anyways, he got the sneezes, then the snot, now a cough. But Thursday when he woke up his hands were on fire- so I knew that meant a fever, so I took his temp- 99 degrees.
And then I FREAKED THE F OUT. I called his pediatrician, yes for a 99 degree temp, who's nurse nicely told me that it was a low grade fever- if one at all bc the ear therms aren't that accurate. She calmly told me to give him Tylenol if I thought he needed it, but that it was nothing to worry about.
Apparently I can handle multiple surgeries and seeing the inside of his chest, but a tiny fever knocks me out cold.
I will say I handled it better than my dad- who called bc Chase "couldn't keep anything down" (translation- he spit up after a bottle) and his temp was 99 degrees "just by placing it on his skin" (wonder if he thinks you have to impale the baby with it for an accurate temperature?) Oh and another wise fact from Grandpa- "low grade fever means his temp is BELOW 98.6"
I tell ya- good times
You freaked over 99 degrees, you silly momma!
ReplyDeleteI once took Tia in because I thought she had pneumonia (which she did), they asked me if she had been running a temp.. I said "no.. she didn't feel warm to me".. needless to say it was 104.5.. whoops.. perhaps I should purchase a thermometer!
