Chase Update

Been a very busy baby lately, so you'll have to forgive the delay in my blogging. I'm busy crawling all over the place now and does that take forever! I prefer to walk, but since I haven't started that yet, I'll just work on my standing.
Mom says I'm like a little rock climber, I grab the couch piping with the tips of my fingers and pull myself up. Of course I fall sometimes, so it's a good thing I'm wearing my Pampers.
Not a whole lot to report, getting ready for my first birthday! Carter/Brody & Will have been showing me how it's done- I can't wait for my own party.
Other than that- still no teeth (Mom prays to the tooth fairy everynight!) I'm talking up a storm, and just hanging out with my favorite people. OH! Mom did get a new job so now I spend part of my days at Aunt Tara's with my cousins Dustin and Charrley. They're WAY older, so they're showing me the ropes. It's a pretty sweet deal bc The G's (Klett and Lehman) still pick me up so I get to see them a lot too.

Got me some new kicks

Not sure if you've heard, but I finally got rid of those stupid casts this week! Very excited about that. Right after Nurse Robin sawed 'em off up went my legs and I couldn't stop staring at my toes. It's been awhile since I've seen those & man, DID THEY STINK! Mom tried to hold back the coughs and tears, but even I have to admit they were pretty rank.

Now, don't be too judgey about my skinny legs. I promise you in no time I'll have them up to par with my guns and the 6 pack abs I'm working on.

Speaking of the workouts, so after I got my casts off we went straight to get my new kicks. You can tell from the last picture how excited I am to have them. You would think, after all I've been thru, that someone would cut me some slack. Give a kid just a small rest to hang out, grab some toes, maybe try rolling over on my own (I totally rolled over with the casts on Monday btw!) But no, let's slap on some 1950's white shoes with a super cool (not really) purple bar. I am trying to adjust, but it hasn't been easy. By Sunday it'll be old news- and as an added bonus, the guy at the shoe store told Mom that most kids who wear these turn out to be really good snowboarders. I think he's kidding, but not sure.

It's been a long week- going to hang out and watch the Big Ten tournament this weekend.

Go Bucky!

PS- I have to wear the shoes 24/7 until I start to walk, then night/naps until I start school. At least that's "ballpark"- keep your fingers crossed it's less.

Rainy Weekend

I am a posting fool today!

After our fun walk outside we took to the indoors for some serious Chase & Mommy bonding time. It was MUCH needed.
Friday we had gone to lunch with Grandma Lehman and her boss, then we went grocery shopping (although Mom raced thru that like Jimmy Kenseth Jr) then we went on our walk, I pitched a minor fit & went to bed :-)

Saturday was the best! We laid around all day in our pjs! Took some naps, did some tummy time, played on my toy mat AND tried out my new bouncer Aunt Michelle got for me. My feet don't touch the ground yet (which is probably a good thing) but Mommy bounced me up and down to get the idea. It's got really cool toys to play with & I tried to put each and every one in my mouth.
Afterwards we took another nap- you can tell from the picture I'm getting really close to rolling over. I think the weight from my casts help a lot. Don't worry though, Mom never leaves me unattended.
I love rainy lazy weekends. Now I get to go to Dad's to hang out with him. I think I'm seeing a lot of couch snuggle time in my future there too! Being a baby is pretty much the coolest thing ever!

My First Walk (ok stroller ride outside)

Friday was soooooooooooooooo nice! It was over the 50 degree mark, which in my world means Mom allows me to go for a ride outside. (She's still pretty strict, I will work on that with her.)

Mom loaded me up- hat, two blankets, a cover up & off we went! I guess before I made my debut she had a nice little routine down with morning walks. Clearly it had been awhile bc her trek around the neighborhood left her a little breathless.

But it was so nice to get outside! The birds! The neighbors dogs! Oh and the fresh air- which put me promptly to sleep, so don't ask about the scenery :-) I only woke up the few times we stopped. But it was nice to get out of the house, considering the weekend was filled with rain, rain, rain- but that's another post.

Hanging out

I've got a new favorite pastime. Well, actually two. The first is trying to see how much of my hands I can fit in my mouth. First I will try one side, then the other & then both! Not quite there yet, but I'm getting close. It makes the funniest noises and I drool everywhere- I think Mom thinks I'm teething (she went out and bought Sophie the Giraffe for me to gnaw on) but I'm not. I just think it's funny. In fact, my very latest is to pull my nuk out, try to put it back in (facing the wrong way of course) and then shove that AND my hand in my mouth. Good times!

Baptism

Yesterday was Chase's Baptism. We kept it small (immediate fam, grandparents & great-grandparents) due to the hugeness of his extended family.
He was Baptised at St Peters Church in Madison & was so well behaved thru mass & the ceremony. He only pitched a fit when we tried to do pictures :-)

Thanks to all that came & for everyone who helped with the set-up and clean up. My reps are now benefitting from all the leftovers!

If you have a Snapfish account- here is a link from Godmother (!) Amber's photos:

If you don't- I will post the pics as soon as I get some emailed to me.

PS- This is the first week when we have NOT ONE doctor appointment scheduled. What will we do with ourselves and all this free time?

Big Weekend!

Mom and I had a very good visit with the doctor today- but I will get into that in a minute.

This weekend was a little out of the norm for me. Friday night I got to spend the night with Grandma & Grandpa Klett. We had a good time, especially when the whole family got up around 3am to hang out! Even Uncle Chris stopped by in between plowing to hang out. I like being up so much I did it again the next night, and the next night ;-) Good times!

Saturday Mom was a little under the weather so I was nice. We napped a lot and I was really quiet. I could tell that she appreciated it! It was also my first Valentine's Day & I had TWO Valentines. Mom & her friend Delsia. Well, Del came over after I had gone to bed, but I'm counting her too- even if she was a bitter betty about it being V-Day. I've got some sweet pics of my first V-Day, Mom will post those later.

So Sunday rolls around & I'm sorry, but two nights out of my crib (literally, not figuratively) and I was PO'd! I let everyone know too! Barely napped, cried A LOT & fought bedtime like you wouldn't believe. It was all in good fun though, I'm started to lay off now that we are getting back into our routine. Who knew I was such a stickler?

Today! Mom and I had the best doctor appointment yet (in her opinion, they're all starting to look/sound the same to me "he's cute, looks great, see ya in 6 months") We met with Dr. Greg Rice a Geneticist who works with the UW. We met him in the hospital when I was born (don't remember that) and he is my doc for the 22q. Anyhoo- he said that I look "great' (duh!) and that my muscle tone is good (check out the guns!) and that I'm meeting all the milestones I should be (you should check me out during tummy time now!) This is all good news, but I saw Mom wipe a tear when he told her that most cases of 22q have either the severe physical issues (like my heart) OR the developmental delays. Usually not both! AND he said (didn't want to be quoted) that kids who have good muscle tone (aforementioned guns) usually are not developmentaly delayed. THIS WAS EXCELLENT NEWS! Mom's been worried ever since I was in the womb that we would be dealing with all 300 manifestations of 22q. But it looks like she can chill out a bit. Nothing's set in stone of course, but Dr Rice was pretty encouraged. We're going to follow up with him in 6 months, and maybe go check out a clinic he recommended, but he thinks I'm doing great!

As my reward, Mom took me shopping- GROCERY SHOPPING- see how much I love it?

Well I'm off to sleep (maybe thru the night.) Hopefully we can get those other pictures uploaded tomorrow.

Peace

Chase
